For every opera-lover, Verona is a must. The sheer spectacle of its grand opera productions and the atmosphere in the crowd will remain an unforgettable memory. 2009 sees one of the world's greatest tenors, Plácido Domingo, in a one-night only gala concert in the Arena. This is joined by Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia and an option to see Bizet's Carmen. We also offer the opportunity to attend Anteprima Opera, a pre-performance talk, whose aim is to introduce the audience to the plot and the main aspects of the opera which will take place the same evening.


Thu 23 Jul Morning arrival in Verona and transfer to the 4-star Hotel Firenze, just inside the city walls. Welcome drink in the hotel before your optional evening performance at the Arena.

Fri 24 Jul Morning tour of historic Verona, including visits to the Casa di Giulietta with the balcony where Juliet was said to have received Romeo's declarations of love, the medieval and Roman Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori, the civic centre of Verona. Afternoon at leisure. Evening performance at the Arena.

Sat 25 Jul Day at leisure to enjoy Verona independently. In the evening we will attend the Anteprima Opera pre-performance talk with gala buffet dinner at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia. Evening performance at the Arena.

Sun 26 Jul Morning at leisure for last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Afternoon transfer to Verona airport for your homeward journey.
