Join us for a spring break in the magical Bavarian capital. A new production of I Capuleti e I Montecchi with Vesselina Kasarova is joined by a performance of Norma with Edita Gruberova in the title role. There is time to discover your own highlights of the city, as well as an included visit to the wonderful Cuvilliés-Theater, where the first performances of Mozart’s Idomeneo took place in 1781.


Sat 9 Apr Afternoon arrival at Munich airport and check in at the 4-star Hotel Torbrau in the heart of the city and only 5 minutes walk from the Nationaltheater. Welcome drink at the hotel.

Sun 10 Apr Meet your guide for a walking tour of the Old Town around the Marienplatz where the town hall’s Carillion glockenspiel delights audiences with dancing figures. We visit some of the city’s churches, including the Frauenkirche with its double clock-towers. A welcome lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Afternoon at leisure and evening performance at the Nationaltheater.

Mon 11 Apr Today we make a full-day excursion to the Chiemsee Lake. A boat takes us to the Herrenchiemsee Island where we have a guided visit of the Neues Schloss followed by lunch in a local restaurant. Return to Munich for the remainder of the afternoon at leaisure. Optional evening performance.

Tue 12 Apr Morning visit to the Residenz Munich, which served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings from 1508 to 1918. The Treasury of the Residenz displays a large array of jewls, enamels, crystal and ivories. Also included is a guided tour of the Cuvilliés-Theater, a Rococo gem which has recently reopened following stunning restoration. Afternoon at leisure. Evening performance at the Nationaltheater.

Wed 13 Apr Morning at leisure. Afternoon check out and transfer to the airport for your homeward flight.
