Easter at the Berlin Festtage
Daniel Barenboim c. Monika Rittershause
Daniel Barenboim’s Easter Festival offers all-star cast opera performances and symphonic concerts, and is a highlight of Berlin’s vibrant cultural season. We are delighted to present this tour concentrating on the operatic offerings in 2010’s programme.

Itinerary
Fri 26 Mar Morning arrival in Berlin and transfer to the comfortable 4-star Hotel Maritim proArte, a few minutes’ walk from the Staatsoper unter den Linden. Welcome drink at the hotel before the evening performance.

Sat 27 Mar Day excursion to Potsdam to visit Sanssouci, the summer palace of Frederick the Great. Our tour takes in visits to Sanssouci Palace and the New Palace with its Palace Theatre. Built between 1766 and 1768, this Rococo gem presented all genres of theatre, from opera seria and buffa, to the French theatre of words. Return to your hotel to prepare for the evening performance.

Sun 28 Mar This morning join your guide for a tour of old and new Berlin. The elegant residencies along Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate and the city’s palaces contrast with the starkly modern Potsdamer Platz and the many new buildings unifying the former East and West sides. Lunch is included in a restaurant in East Berlin; the tour will conclude after lunch. Return to the hotel to walk to the optional late afternoon performance.

Mon 29 Mar Morning at leisure for last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Afternoon transfer to Tegel airport for your homeward journey.
