Daniel Barenboim’s Easter Festival offers all-star cast opera performances and symphonic concerts, and is a highlight of Berlin’s vibrant cultural season. We are delighted to present an Easter weekend which will feature three performances, all conducted by Barenboim himself. Berg’s Wozzeck and Wagner’s Die Walküre are joined by the Berlin Staatskapelle with Gidon Kremer on violin.


Fri 22 Apr Afternoon arrival in Berlin and transfer to the comfortable 4-star Hotel Residenz Berlin, a traditional boutique-hotel in the same area of town as the Schiller Theatre. Welcome dinner at the hotel or in a local restaurant.

Sat 23 Apr This morning join your guide for a tour of West Berlin, taking in the sights of Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Tor, Bellevue Palace, Victory Column, Charlottenburg Palace, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Embassy and the Reichstag Building. Lunch is arranged in the rooftop restaurant of the Reichstag.Transfer to the afternoon performance at the Schiller Theatre.

Sun 24 Apr Today we visit Potsdam and tour the old city centre. Passing the canal and visiting the New Market Square, a fine example of a Baroque style square, the former Royal Carriage Stable is to be found here and also the Cabinet House which once served Fredrick Wilhelm II as his city palace. We also visit the Nikolai Church and the old town hall. We then continue on to the Dutch Quarter, where the houses are built in red brick in the Dutch style as homes for the Dutch craftsmen who were invited to come to Potsdam by King Fredrick Wilhelm I. The tour will end near Sanssouci Palace so that there is free time to either visit or have lunch prior to returning to the hotel. Transfer to the early evening performance.

Mon 25 Apr Morning city tour of Eastern Berlin, taking in Friedrichstrasse, Unter den Linden, Berlin Cathedral, the Old Museum, Alexander Platz, Museum Island and the Pergamon Museum. We then take a boat cruise on the river Spree back to West Berlin. Transfer to the afternoon performance.

Tue 26 Apr Morning at leisure for last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Lunchtime transfer to Tegel airport for your homeward journey.
