
Fri 17 Sep Join your guide for a morning visit to Rohrau and the modest thatched farmhouse where Haydn was born on 31 March 1732. Lunch is included in a local restaurant. We return to Eisenstadt for an afternoon at leisure. Evening performance at the castle.
Sat 18 Sep Today we leave Eisenstadt for a full-day excursion to Fertod in Hungary to visit Count Esterházy’s Hungarian palace. We continue to an included lunch in Sopron, where Haydn often stopped with the Count on their way to the palace. After lunch there is the opportunity to see the town, before returning to Eisenstadt for the evening performance.
Sun 19 Sep This morning there is the opportunity to attend Mass in the Cathedral. After the service we take a guided walk around the city, including a visit to the Haydn Museum and a tour of the Esterházy castle. In the mid-afternoon we attend the festival’s closing concert at the castle, before your last evening at leisure.
Mon 20 Sep Morning at leisure for last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Transfer to Vienna for the homeward journey.
