Mozart in Aix-en-Provence

The charming Provencale country which so inspired Paul Cézanne is host to some of the world’ finest performers at this years Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. We see productions of Mozart favourites Le nozze di Figaro and La finta giardiniera. Music, art and wonderful scenery combine for a memorable weekend in Provence.

Itinerary

Thu 19 Jul Afternoon arrival at Marseilles airport and transfer to Aix en-Provence. Check in at the comfortable 3-star Hotel Aquabella, situated in the heart of the Old Town. Welcome dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Fri 20 Jul Meet your guide for a morning tour of the historical city centre with its avenues lined with elegant mansions. Visit the Cathedral St Sauveur and Romanesque cloisters, and see the many wonderful fountains in the town. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant before an afternoon at leisure. In the evening transfer on foot to the Theatre de l’Archeveche for this evening’s performance.

Sat 21 Jul This morning we take a walking tour following in the footsteps of the city’s most famous inhabitant, Paul Cézanne. We visit the Granet Museum which houses works by Cézanne and other French painters of the 16th to 20th centuries, and visit his workshop. Transfer to the evening performance at the Theatre du Grand Saint Jean.

Sun 22 Jul Free morning for last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Afternoon transfer to Marseilles airport for your homeward journey.
