This small city in the Thüringen region of Germany is surrounded by forests, hills, unspoilt villages and romantic castles. Enjoy performances of The Ring at the intimate Deutsches Nationaltheater and a full sightseeing programme including day visits to Bayreuth and Eisenach. Add to this Weimar’s antique shops, small art galleries and cosy cafes for a truly memorable break.


Tue 5 Jul Afternoon arrival in Frankfurt and transfer to Weimar by coach. On arrival check in at 5-star Best Western Premier Grand Hotel Russischer Hof. Welcome dinner in hotel.

Wed 6 Jul Morning introductory walking tour of Weimar. Afternoon free. Evening performance at the Deutsches Nationaltheater.

Thu 7 Jul Day excursion to Eisenach, centre of the Arts since the Middle Ages. We take a walking tour of the city, followed by lunch in a local restaurant. Afternoon visit to UNESCO World Heritage site Wartburg Castle, in wooded surroundings overlooking Eisenach. Return to Weimar for the early evening performance.

Fri 8 Jul Today we take a day excursion to Bayreuth, home to Wagner during the last years of his life. We take a guided tour of the Festspielhaus, famous as the home of the annual Bayreuth Festival. Lunch in a local restaurant is followed by a walking tour of the town and a visit to the Margravial Opera House. Return to Weimar for a free evening.

Sat 9 Jul This morning join your guide for a guided tour of the Goethe House. Mid-afternoon performance at the Deutsches Nationaltheater.

Sun 10 Jul Morning visit to the Schiller Museum and early afternoon at leisure. Mid-afternoon performance at the Deutsches Nationaltheater.

Mon 11 Jul Morning at leisure for last-minute shopping and sightseeing before your afternoon transfer to Frankfurt for your flight home.
