The Salzburg Whitsun Festival

Celebrate Whitsun in Salzburg with Cecilia Bartoli during her first year as Artistic Director of the festival. Celebrating the many guises of Egyptian Queen Cleopatra, the programme offers a performance of Giulio Cesare in Egitto with a star cast and a concert featuring Anna Netrebko and the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre St Petersburg conducted by Valery Gergiev.

Itinerary
Fri 25 May Afternoon arrival in Munich and transfer to Salzburg. We check in at the 5-star Hotel Bristol, located in the city centre. Welcome dinner in the hotel or a local restaurant.

Sat 26 May This morning join your guide for a tour of Mozart’s Salzburg including visits to Mozart’s birthplace where the family lived from 1747 to 1773, and the cathedral where he was baptised. Lunch is arranged in a local restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Evening performance at the Mozarteum.

Sun 27 May Morning excursion to the 17th-century Hellbrunn Palace outside Salzburg. This summer palace, built by Italian architect Santino Solari, was commissioned by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, prince-bishop to Salzburg from 1612 to 1619. Enjoy the beautiful park with water-features. Return to Salzburg for the afternoon at leisure. Late afternoon performance at the Haus für Mozart.

Mon 28 MayToday is at leisure. You may choose to attend the optional morning concert at the Felsenreitschule. Evening performance at the Grosses Festspielhaus.

Tue 29 May Morning at leisure before your transfer to Munich airport for your homeward flight.
