Silvester in Berlin

See in the New Year Berlin style, celebrating the good times of life on Silvester. Entertainment for the festivities includes two operas at the Deutsche Oper: Puccini’s La bohème and Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. On New Year’s Day, choose between the traditional Beethoven Symphony No 9 concert under the baton of Daniel Barenboim at the Schiller Theatre, or a performance of Swan Lake at the Deutsche Oper.


Thu 29 Dec Afternoon arrival in Berlin and transfer to the comfortable 4-star Hotel Residenz, centrally located just off the Kurfürstendamm. Welcome dinner in a local restaurant.

Fri 30 Dec This morning join your guide for a tour of Old and New Berlin contrasting the old residencies and palaces with the modern architecture unifying the East and West sides. See the fusion in Sir Norman Foster’s rebuilding of the Reichstag where lunch is arranged in the rooftop restaurant.
Afternoon at leisure before the evening performance at the Deutsche Oper.

Sat 31 Dec Morning at leisure. Early afternoon transfer to the Deutsche Oper for the afternoon performance. Afterwards return to the hotel by coach for your New Year’s Eve gala dinner in the hotel.

Sun 1 Jan Day at leisure to make your own choice of activity. We highly recommend a visit to the Pergamon Museum where a special exhibition based upon the history, art and culture of Pergamon (now Bergama, Turkey) will be on display. A variety of sculptures, mosaics, coins and archaeological objects that have never been shown before allow the beholder a realistic picture of life in an ancient city. Optional mid-afternoon performance at the Schiller Theatre (limited tickets available) or optional evening ballet at the Deutsche Oper.

Mon 2 Jan Late morning transfer to Tegel airport for your homeward flight.
