Stars at La Scala

Our pre-Christmas break to the cosmopolitan city of Milan takes in two highlights of the new season at Teatro alla Scala; the first being Robert Carsen’s new production of Don Giovanni, starring Anna Netrebko, Bryn Terfel and Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, and Daniel Barenboim on the podium. This is joined by a concert performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Milan’s sumptuous Teatro alla Scala and the vibrant city of Milan itself provide the perfect backdrop.


Mon 19 Dec Afternoon arrival in Milan and transfer to the 4-star Hotel de la Ville, within walking distance of the Duomo and the Teatro alla Scala. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Tue 20 Dec This morning join your guide for a city tour, visiting some of the main attractions of Milan. We visit the imposing Gothic-style Duomo with unsurpassed views from its rooftop jungle of statues and spires, Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele lined with fashionable boutiques and the museum of La Scala opera house, home to a vast collection of opera memorabilia. Afternoon at leisure before your evening performance.

Wed 21 Dec Day at leisure for your own exploration of the city - or perhaps to visit a few of Milan’s world-famous shopping streets? You may have the option to visit Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie; please ask us for further details on booking.* Evening performance at Teatro alla Scala.

Thu 22 Dec Morning at leisure. Early afternoon transfer to the airport for homeward journey.
