Summer at La Scala

A summer sojourn to cosmopolitan Milan takes in two performances at the close of the Teatro alla Scala 2011/12 season: Manon and Luisa Miller. Laurent Pelly’s production of Massenet’s version of the tragic story of Manon stars Nathalie Dessay in the title role, while Verdi’s Luisa Miller features Marcelo Álvarez and Elena Mosuc, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.

Thu 21 Jun Afternoon arrival in Milan and transfer to the 4-star Hotel de la Ville, within walking distance of the Duomo and the Teatro alla Scala. Welcome dinner in the hotel.

Fri 22 Jun This morning join your guide for a city tour, visiting some of the main attractions of Milan. We visit the imposing Gothic-style Duomo with unsurpassed views from its rooftop jungle of statues and spires, Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele lined with fashionable boutiques and the museum of La Scala opera house, home to a vast collection of opera memorabilia. Afternoon at leisure before your evening performance.

Sat 23 Jun Day at leisure for your own exploration of the city - or perhaps to visit a few of Milan’s world-famous shopping streets? You may have the option to visit Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie; please ask us for further details on booking.* Evening performance at Teatro alla Scala.

Sun 24 Jun Morning at leisure. Early afternoon transfer to the airport for homeward journey.
